Interns,
Each week you are expected to spend around one hour plus reading and writing articles, websites, books, essays, and speeches that teach you about human ecology, environmentalism, and sustainability. There is a world of content out there on the internet. Go find it and read. Each week you are expected to post on this blog your thoughts about your reading. Here are the expectations.
1.) read one article, website, chapter, or section of chosen reading per week(average one hour of reading)
2.) On the blog:
A. Title Each Post with the Wednesday date of each week
B. Write an MLA works cited entry for your source
C. Write a brief summary of the content of your reading
D. Tag,"Quote" the most important/inspiring passage from the reading
E. Respond with your own personal thinking, realizations, or questions
F. Go to our Reading List google document and paste your MLA entry into your personal reading list
G. Go to your fellow interns' posts and offer one academic comment for each of their posts
(START EACH WEEK DOING THIS).
3.)FOR THE FIRST WEEK, Jenny and Hannah will read and post about the introduction of our shared text: Exploring Global Issues: Social, Economic, and Environmental Interconnections
4.) FOR THE SECOND WEEK Colleen and Molly will read and post about the introduction of our shared text: Exploring Global Issues: Social, Economic, and Environmental Interconnections.
We have to share our only two copies of the text until we get more.
You are expected to read a total of five chapters from our text. You choose which ones and when. Share the two copies we have. Pass them back and forth.
I will be looking at your posts to see the breadth of your reading choices and the depth of your thinking and responding. I will be checking these but not formally grading them until the end of each quarter when you and I will reflect on your reading and posting.
Your quarter grades will be based on two assignments:
1. READING and WRITING and POSTING on our blog weekly. Based on self-reflection.
2. COLLABORATING and ADVOCATING in the building throughout the week - attendance and engagement at Tuesday internship meetings and Wednesday morning club meetings. Based on self-reflection.
Cheers,
McW
